Stephen has over 25 years of professional practice experience as a therapist and health care administrator. Stephen’s educational background is in clinical psychology and health care administration. This valuable combination allows him to integrate current research knowledge, clinical practice understanding and practical experience to help diagnose what areas The Landing’s clients should focus on for the most effective treatment.
David Hickman B.S., Th M., CAS-II
Program Administrator
David Hickman is the Program administrator and has over 20 years of experience treating addiction in a wide variety of clinical roles.
David has built his expertise in the field of recovery by participating in the entire continuum of addiction treatment settings including medical detoxification and inpatient psychiatric facilities. David is also a minister and has an extensive background in spiritual counseling, recovery, and crisis management. David's group process and counseling focus is on family dynamics and personal responsibility.
Ryan Franke
Director of Business Development
Ryan Franke is the Director of Business Development for The Landing. Ryan coordinates the admission process and works closely with referents and families to make sure that all concerned parties have the information that they need before and during the treatment process.
Ryan can be found at The Landing often, checking on our clients and showing people around the facility.
Dr. Jerry Brown, PsyD, MFT
Staff Therapist

Jerry Brown has worked over 37 years in the counseling field, and over 25 years in the field of recovery.
Dr. Brown has taught both graduate and undergraduate college courses in the area of counselor training and is the author of Militant Parenting, A Survival Guide For Parents with Problem Kids. Dr. Brown is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist.
Nathan Stump, CAS
Primary Case Manager
Nathan Stump is the Primary Case Manager at The Landing. Nate has been working with men in recovery for over 14 years and has spent the last 8 working as a case manager.
Nate came to Sober Living by the Sea in 2005 and helped many men and women as Program Manager of Sober Living by the Sea's Intensive Outpatient Program.
Nathan was promoted to being the Primary Case Manager at The Landing in 2009 , and has brought his passion and professionalism to the premier men's facility for addiction treatment.
Steven East AA, AS, CADC II, CAS, ICADC

Steven East specializes in Client Centered Therapy. His approach utilizes an eclectic array of positive reinforcement motivational techniques. His methods help guild our patients towards self-actualization.
Kurt Greenbaum
Chef
Kurt earned his associates degree in Culinary Arts in Honolulu, Hawaii. Kurt has since worked as a chef in Hawaii's Hotel and Restaurant Industry since 1983. Some of Kurt's chef experiences include The Ritz Carlton Hotel, The Halekulani Hotel, Hapuna Beach Prince Hotel, Mauna Kea Resort, and The Molokai Ranch Hotel.
Kurt also worked as The Director of Catering for the largest catering company in Hawaii.
Kurt has a life philosophy which is to "live Aloha" (one of aloha's many meanings is "love"). This helps Kurt provide excellent service to guests and also has strengthened his own recovery. Kurt has been with The Landing since it started. Kurt is also an avid surfer and he rides long boards right out in front of the facility. Kurt has been in recovery for five years.
Michelle Smith, LVN
Director of Nursing

Michelle Smith is a licensed vocational Nurse who completed her nursing credentials and licensure in 2005.
Michelle’s role at The Landing is to oversee and manage the medical department as well as give excellent nursing care to each client. Michelle also works closely with the treatment team to ensure the client’s individual medical needs are met.
Michelle has a strong background in addiction, anxiety disorders, depression, nutrition, and psychiatric illness. As a core member of our clinical team she provides both medical and mental health care for our patients at Sober Living by the Sea.
Jennifer Twist

Jennifer Twist brings over twenty years of experience in health care with a primary focus on quality, risk management, compliance, and health law. Jennifer believes that families and clients are the best source of information for continuous improvement. At our facility, we are dedicated to outstanding customer service and client care. The feedback that we received from our clients and their families allows us to continuously enhance the services we provide.
