When you say the word, “eating disorder” most people think of a phase or an adolescent girl struggling with anorexia or bulimia. However, eating disorders are not a phase, they are classified as an addiction just like drug and alcohol abuse. As well, eating disorders don’t just affect women. Of the 24 million people in the U.S.A. with eating disorders, 1 out of every 10 of them is a man.
If you or someone you know is struggling with an eating disorder seek treatment immediately. Eating disorders are the most deadly of all mental illnesses. The sooner the addiction is treated the more promising recovery is. The longer one waits, mental and physical complications become an obstacle to recovery.
