Deadly Sizzirup

Sizzirup, a cocktail of cough syrup, codeine, alcohol, and candy has been noted as a drug of choice among famous rappers. Overdoses have given this deadly drug clout in the addiction and recovery community. Today we will explain why this deadly tincture does kill.

Sizzirup which originated in the southern states of the USA in the early 1990’s is cough syrup mixed with an opiate (like codeine), alcohol, and some sugar (usually a Jolly Rancher candy). The extreme combination of Dextromethorphan (a common ingredient in many cough syrups), which can be a hallucinogen at high enough doses, with alcohol and an opiate reportedly gives quite a high.

Opiates are not to play with and can kill by slowing down breathing and increasing heart rate. As well as causing liver damage and high fever. If you or anyone you know is experimenting with Sizzirup please contact The Landing for recovery support.
